On 21 September 2023, the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation released an
explanatory paper in relation to a proposed Climate Change Bill, together with a fact sheet. The
explanatory paper sets out, in broad terms, the key features of the proposed Climate Change Bill,
together with the proposed provisions in the proposed Bill.
EDO’s submission on the Climate Change Bill is couched in the context of its Roadmap for Climate
Reform. We advocate for law reform that is science-aligned, prudent and ambitious
enough to meet the scale of the climate crisis.
