The Federal Court has upheld our client the Australian Conservation Foundation’s legal challenge to the approval process for Adani’s North Galilee Water Scheme (NGWS), meaning the scheme is now set to face tougher assessment for its impacts on our precious water resources.

Acting on behalf of ACF, EDO lawyers argued that the Environment Minister’s decision not to apply the water trigger was unlawful. Now, the Federal Court has agreed.
This significant decision also has wider implications – meaning any future Queensland large coal mine proposal cannot avoid tough scrutiny for its impacts on water by creating separate projects for its water pipeline.
